I hate to say this.....
Wow, after reading these other comments. I should consider myself lucky. I went in there wearing literally thousands of dollars in clothes, so I don't think it is that. Or else these (as my sister called them) "young punks running it" don't even know what they are looking at. So don't feel bad.
My story: I have been going there for many years and I have paid some hefty tabs for everyone into the hundreds of dollars and always liked being there. They were always nice and let us stay for our ride inside or even play music CDs on request. So of course I never minded and of course I think it will always be laid back and more civilized compared to a dance bar.
BUT.... it has been a couple of years since I have returned as I have not been going out lately. So on New Year's Eve, we decided to finish up there. I assumed it would be the same place I am used to.
No.
At closing time, they told us to leave. So I called a cab who was waiting for our call anyway. They insisted we leave right then and there. It was freezing outside and we are three girls in dresses with thin dress coats. I began to get angry, visibly angry, and said they did not have to make us leave like that. So anyway, we did leave the bar area and stood inside the door to wait for the cab, to keep out of the wind.
After a minute or two (not long at all).... they came running up the stairs and MADE us leave and stand outside literally huddled waiting outside the door. Now read on, what makes me mad is further on.
So I said I would never return again and told my friends I will make very sure that others know this. I have seen a club go instantly dead from word of mouth. Now, it may be usual to behave that way - to push everyone out, but not there and not three girls who were waiting on their cab with it freezing outside. So I was surprised.
....And this is what made me angry, while they made us leave, they let some girl stay at the bar who did not work there and she told us that her friends "left her there." She was talking to them the entire time and ME about how she is alone. So you tell me what was up that night.
Maybe if I was a 23-year-old lonely girl I would get to stay?
If I had employees treating my customers like that - they would be immediately fired. Everyone should be VIP if they walk into your bar. None of your people should be harassed, refused and removed into tipping more (very shocking). None of your female customers should be forced out and not allowed to wait 5-10 minutes. None of your customers should be treated any differently if they wear a suit or NOT. If they keep you in business, it is because of them - not some magical fairies. I own a business in marketing/promotions/advertising with over 176,000 customers online so I know what I am talking about and I hope one of you are checking your reviews. more
I really like this place....alot
I really like this place over every single spot in Indy. I had not have been there for awhile. We went on New Year's Eve and I was reminded why this is my favorite. The music is good, food, even the layout of the entire place is good. There are four different spots to get drinks, which is fun running from one to the next inside the building.
All the servers and bartenders are very patient and nice. Even the band, (WT Feaster is who we saw) was fun and signed things for us.
I am also amazed at the variety of the crowd. It is not just one "type," and everyone seems to get along. That is rare from what I have seen, such a mix of customers. Definitely go here. more
Brand new & outstanding
Our stay at the Drury Inn was outstanding. The inn has only been open for 9 weeks. The inn is very clean, the staff is extremely friendly & helpful. The room/bed is very comfortable and roomy. And the important thing when coming off the road, the place is nice and quiet. We travel with our dog Jake and the staff couldn't have done more to make him feel comfortable. The inn itself is very nice and nicely decorated. Close to the highway, easy to get in and out of. We will surely stay here again when traveling through Indy. more
